How To Write Content That Attracts Readers

Attracting readers to your blog isn’t as simple as reading or writing about the same, on your blog. A visitor turns out to be your reader only if he finds your content interesting. Remember, I’m talking about the content and not the single article.

If you are another wanna-make-money-online-freak, you should not just read about internet marketing and those stereotypical money-making guides, try to produce great content, readable stuff and outstanding points. Only then visitors turn into readers or potential customers and you can start picking your benefits.

Writing content and attracting readers can be individual tasks if you are working for a business; but for blogs, you can write content to attract readers. Without much, let’s see how…

Keep Fresh

You might own a single blog only but not the reader. He has access to hundreds of similar blogs through search engines. Give the readers a reason, why they should stick to your blog. Fresh content speaks it up.

Regarding the content production, the most common thing I’ve noticed in some bloggers is, they just re-write an existing article or just skim all the articles of the first page on Google. Never the less, they just produce another version of a pre-existing article.

No one doesn’t like to read something which he already knows and so do the blog readers. When you are writing something, they expect something new, every time. So, always write unique and fresh content.

Use Catchy Headlines

What is it, that stamps the first impression of your article? Of course, the headline. The best examples of headlines can always be seen in a newspaper. Just that single line (or maybe a couple, at times) can instantly make you pick up and read the entire article.

I know, writing for print media and writing for the web are both quite contrast. Here, you are also supposed to insert keywords at proper places in the article and make it attractive and magnetic, as well.

Writing catchy headlines is not actually the toughest job on earth. You can either give the detail through the headline or create a suspense with it. The best strategy can be, using SUEPERLATIVE forms in the headline. Because, people always love to read the BEST. You can also add a number at the beginning of the headline to make it look more interesting.

Give Examples

When you’re saying something new, the best possible way to explain is by giving proper examples. You can mention some successful and famous bloggers or even write about yourself and make the content convincing. Because, audience would always love to explore content that gives more inspiration. Inspiration, in terms of success, even more. For example, when you write, people can make $3000 per a single article and Brian Clark is the best example, it is more than enough to bring at least a percentage of your readers into this web copywriting field.

Keep It Simple

I never want you to keep it short because, I, myself write some really long articles. From my personal experience in writing and blogging, what I’ve found is, THE LENGTH DOESN’T SPEAK WHEN YOU HAVE A VOICE. There are bloggers who write articles of no less than 2000 words and some others with not more than 600 words. Both of them are yet, successful.

All that matters in a blog post is how well you express and not, how long you express. You just have to be simple and straight. No crap and no stories. Of course, you can write stories to make it more interesting; but remember, you have something else too, other than fiction.

Have A Writing Style

There are people who can put magic in their words and others, who can motivate you. Some may only give you the data and some others can make you laugh even if he is writing on home decor. You see, every person has his own style of writing (assuming the fact, he’s not a copycat). And I think, having your own style of writing will help you more in creating a brand for yourself. I think, I should give you some examples where each has his own unique style. Here are some bloggers/writers whose writing styles are as follows.

  • Leo Babuta – You cannot be more minimalist than him.
  • Jeff Goins – You feel like you’ve changed.
  • Adrienne Smith – Everyone can simply understand.
  • Rahul Kuntala – When you read, it feels like a conversation with your friend.
  • Koundeenya – Tell me, how do you find my writings?

  1. Ah, thanks for the mention Koundeenya! I’m so touched…

This was always a confusing topic for me because the suggestions that I received were just over my head. Just be you, write for your readers, creating catchy headlines, make them want to come back for more, etc. Heck, I didn’t know how to do any of that.

I know that when I tell people to find their own voice that in itself is confusing. I get that but when I tell people to just write like you’re sharing something with a good friend, people seem to understand better. I think that’s the best way to explain that.

You have to have that connection and the reader has to feel like they either “get it” or they can relate to you. That’s what will help keep them coming back for more. Of course you have to keep cranking out the content that will help solve their problems.

Thank you again Koundeenya, I appreciate that.

  2. Hi Koundeenya,

It’s great to be at your blog!

I really enjoyed reading the advice in your post. Your point about having our own writing style really resonated with me. A while back I was becoming concerned that my writing style wasn’t exciting enough.

However, I soon realised that this was my own personal style of writing and the fact that people were engaging with the content at my blog, demonstrated that my style was interesting and was having an impact on others.

    Thank you.

  3. My first visit to your blog Koundeenya – and you too have a wonderful blog!

Yes indeed, being a freelance writer and blogger myself, I can well relate to all that you wrote. I think when readers visit your blog, they need something to hold them back while they are reading your blog, or else they leave. With the short attention span of readers, you sure need to have content that strike them right away.

I absolutely agree about the length of the post. Speaking of which, as you must have noticed, the posts on my blog have never been less than 1000-1200 words! I guess it’s the content that matters more than the length, though I know many bloggers who convey things well enough even within 4-500 words. So, each one to their own. What matters is that you write quality content that resonates with your readers.

Catchy headlines are an absolute must, though I’ve again seen many bloggers get away with simple ones too. Yes indeed, your content and blog should be regularly updated with fresh content that is simple and resonates with your readers. It’s always writing for others than yourself, though I do manage to write what I like and that resonates with others too, which makes my blogging journey worthwhile as well!

Ah…you mentioned wonderful bloggers, each of who have their unique writing style and I agree with you there. I think having your own voice is the most important thing, and being consistent with it is what helps you stay grounded. It helps you build your relationships with your readers, and just as I always say – if you speak from your heart – you can never really go wrong – isn’t it? I am another huge fan of Adrienne and yes, her reach and connectivity is what makes her a relationship queen. :)

Thanks for sharing. And you too have your own unique writing style – so keep up with it. :)

    • Thanks for stopping by, Harleena.

I’ve read your articles today and they were really so awesome. I fell in love with your writing. I was actually shocked to see such a gigantic list of samples in your portfolio.

Yes, the content does matter a lot more than the length. When we really produce a great article, people will read it even if it has only 300 or so words or even more than 1200 words. Personally, I love reading lengthy articles. Most of them provide the subject in detail and sometimes, I come across a few articles which have nothing but useless junk.

Adrienne really has her own voice. Her style of writing, connection with the readers and the engagement is just so awesome.

      Regards
