If you have finally decided to start your own blog after serious discussions with your blogger-friends and others, then there is something else too- A Blog Niche! If you start blogging without a niche, both your readers and you will get confused on what to write.
You see, there’s a difference between finding an idea and getting confused. When you run a niche blog, you need to find ideas for your upcoming blog posts and when you post everything on your blog, you will surely get confused whether you should write about love-making tips or about that senseless trilogy.
So, why should you start a niche blog? And that’s why I’m here today. It’s been long since I wrote something or maybe I should add, something for my own blog. So, if you are new to blogging or an established niche-less blogger, take away.
Improve Readership
Considering an example that you’ve started a general blog with no specific niche and have also started writing on all possible topics that hit your brains. When a user searches for “health tips” lands on your page, he obviously expects other health related tips on your blog until he starts stumbling your blog to scare himself up.
Start writing posts on a specific niche and the readership will auto-magically improve. This can make your posts go viral which you bring you a lot more traffic which in return generate leads which finally ends up in thousands of bucks in your pockets.
Get More Advertisers
If I ever had a “book publishing house”, I’d only advertise on writing and literature niche blogs and not on those KNOWLEDGE RESOURCES where you can find articles on blogging and cooking as well. I think, it will be more reasonable if I’d call it an Encyclopedia. So, if you want to make more money, stick to a niche.
Search Engines Love Niche Blogs
Even search engines love niche blogs. They give the utmost priority to the readers who should ultimately get the quality results. So, search engines also love niche blogs. With recent search ranking updates, it has confirmed. If you want to get more organic traffic for your blog, you should have a niche blog.
Be An Expert
You know Darren Rowse, right? He’s an awesome photographer. But most of the world knows him as the best blogger. For every blogging-keyword you search on Google, you see Problogger’s result obviously. Not just him. Every blogger who establishes a niche blog becomes an expert on that topic.
Nine weeks back, when I was having blogging nightmares, I realized. When you keep blogging about a specific topic, you are treated as an expert. No matter if you outsource content for your blog, you are still an expert.
That’s how I got more freelance writing clients for my business, if you are not new to my previous blog. Dozen of posts about writing made me a writer (I didn’t outsource any, though).
The same law applies to every niche. If you keep writing articles daily about health tips; I doubt, people will consult you instead of going to a doctor. So, if you want people to notice you and follow you, the ultimate lines can be”start a niche blog”
Conclusion
I have personally seen a numerous examples of those blogs which have no niche and yet, they got tons of traffic each day. But, do you love to be on them and subscribe to their list? Well, I don’t. In fact, I get about more than forty emails each day updating me with the latest posts on their blogs. Each of them are niche blogs and most of them are of my niche.
Even after reading this, if you still want to start a general blog without a niche; tell me, when you are signing up for a blogging community, you are of course asked to select your blog’s topic. From the list, what will you pick? I’m curious to know.
